History

First introduced in 1935, the Leyland Octopus became one of the most famous and best-selling British lorry models. Developments of the lorry continued to be made for almost 50 years after its introduction. The extra axles and longer bodywork of the definitive eight-wheeled truck enabled it to carry heavier and higher volume loads compared to smaller vehicles. The reliabilty, ruggedness and longevity of the Octopus made it a mainstay of many well know long-distance road transport fleets
