History
The Scammell Mechanical Horse was the answer to the problem of replacing horses for local haulage purposes, whilst retaining the flexibility of changing the wagons and the manoeuvrability of the horse and wagon. Its three wheel design meant it could turn on its own circle like a horse, and it worked dutifully hauling parcel trailers in railway and dock yards.
Did you know?
The Scammell's Automatic Coupling system allowed a variety of trailer units to be attached and swapped quicker than attaching the trailer to a horse.
